About FMS Dental
A mom calls on a Tuesday morning with two things on her list: her four-year-old is due for a first cleaning, and she chipped a front tooth over the weekend. In a lot of places, that means two offices, two sets of paperwork, and two trips across Houston traffic. In ours, it means one appointment block, one team that already knows the family, and a plan that handles the chip and the checkup in the same visit. That kind of day is the reason we built this practice the way we did.
We are a general, family, cosmetic and implant dental practice based in Houston, and we care for patients across Houston, Pearland and Sugar Land. From the beginning, our goal has been simple: take care of whole families, through every stage of life, without sending people somewhere else for the care they need. We see patients of all ages, starting with a child's first tooth and continuing through senior care, and we keep that relationship going year after year.
Being comprehensive matters more than it may sound. When a patient needs a root canal, an extraction, an implant, braces or clear aligners, we are able to provide that care here, with records and history already in front of us. We offer root canal therapy for front teeth, premolars and molars, simple and surgical extractions, wisdom teeth removal, dental implants, All-on-X implants, complete and partial dentures, gum grafting and bone grafting. On the preventive side, we handle cleanings, exams, sealants, fluoride treatment, periodontal maintenance, and scaling and root planing. For patients who want to change how their smile looks, we offer porcelain veneers, crowns, composite bonding and in-office teeth whitening.
The most common question we hear is some version of, "How bad is it?" People often wait because they are worried about the answer. Our response is always the same: let us look, and then let us explain it clearly. We walk through what we see, what it means, what happens if it is treated now versus later, and what the options are. You are not committed to anything by hearing the information.
The second most common concern is fear. Dental anxiety is real, and we do not treat it as something patients should simply push through. We offer IV sedation — sometimes called twilight sleep — as well as local anesthesia, so that longer or more involved procedures can be completed comfortably. For many patients, sedation is what finally makes it possible to address years of postponed treatment in a manageable way. We also use laser dentistry as part of our care.
Here is what you can generally expect when you come in:
- A conversation first, so we understand what brought you in and what you are hoping for
- A thorough exam and clear explanation of findings, in plain language
- Treatment options laid out with the tradeoffs, not just one recommendation
- Discussion of insurance coverage and payment before treatment begins
- A plan that fits your schedule, whether that means one longer visit or several shorter ones
Emergencies, Referrals and the Things That Cannot Wait
Dental emergencies do not schedule themselves politely. A cracked tooth while eating, sudden swelling, pain that keeps you up at night, a lost crown before a wedding — these are the calls we get, and we hold time for them. We offer emergency dental appointments, including same-day emergency appointments for urgent root canal needs, and we treat cracked teeth.
We also accept patients without a referral for endodontic care, oral surgery and periodontal care. If your tooth needs a root canal, if a wisdom tooth needs to come out, or if gum disease has progressed to the point that grafting or deep cleaning is needed, you can come directly to us. For patients who already have implants, we provide implant maintenance so those restorations stay healthy over the long haul.
Our Team and the Families We See
Our doctors are Dr. Mehraz Uddin, DMD, FAGD, FICOI, and Dr. Dalia Aldin, Doctor of Dental Surgery. They are supported by a team patients come to know by name: Joel, our Office Manager; Karla, our Registered Dental Hygienist; Kay, our Registered Dental Assistant and Patient Coordinator; and Honey, our Registered Dental Assistant. That consistency is part of the experience — you see familiar faces, and those faces remember your history.
With children, we start at the first tooth or around age one, and parents are welcome in the treatment room. We think that is important. A child who sees a parent nearby, and who hears an adult explain each step before it happens, tends to grow into an adult who does not dread the dentist. Orthodontics follows the same philosophy: we treat both children and adults, with traditional metal braces and clear aligners including Invisalign, because people straighten their teeth at every age and for every reason.
Houston, Pearland and Sugar Land
Serving three communities means we see a wide range of needs in a single week — a retiree considering All-on-X implants, a teenager starting braces, a shift worker who needs an early appointment, a family new to the area looking for one office that can handle everyone.
We accept all major PPO insurance plans and self-pay patients, and we offer in-house financing and flexible payment options. We would rather talk through the numbers honestly up front than have cost become the reason a problem goes untreated. If you are weighing a decision, call us and ask. We are glad to help you think it through.
